Sometimes the first impression is the right one.
Last week, I was talking about the 16″ x 16″ canvas that I had just finished up in preparation for the January 5 deadline at the Southern Vermont Arts Center. Since then, I have decided to go back to my original plan and do two 16″ x 20″ wood panels. This is what I wanted to do first, and the only reason I chose to do the smaller canvas is because I had that size frame in stock.
I thought it would be easy to work around the materials I had, but in the long run, it just seemed forced, and I wasn’t happy. I have been working on wood panels for some time now, and to switch back to canvas was the wrong thing to do.
So, with a renewed sense of purpose, the first panel is done, and the second one is well on its way. This will be the first time that I will be framing out finished work, and I will show you the end results next week.
Finally, I couldn’t think of a better way to end the year than with a couple photos of my favorite people. Thank you, all, for your generous support and inspiration. I could not do it without you!
Please continue to spread the word in 2012, so that I may continue to do what I truly love – paint!
Happy New Year!
